The Zoanthus Colony Polyp Corals are also referred to as Zoas, button polyps and sea mats. The Zoanthid Corals are colonial animals and hundreds of individual polyps can be found densely attached to single pieces of rock.
Zoanthid colonies are easy to care for and are excellent choices for the beginner reef aquarist. They are considered semi-aggressive and although their sting is not very strong they should be placed away from other corals. They require a moderate light level combined with moderate waterflow.
